The commercial fleet fueling industry is going through upheaval and redefinition.  Thirty years ago, fleet fueling amounted to house accounts in service stations and jobber sponsored key-locks. These simple fueling methods have transformed into universal fleet fueling cards and nationwide reciprocal cardlock networks. The two have been on a collision course for several years. 

On one hand is the retail fueling environment dominated by the large, well funded corporate entities that live vicariously off the major oil company locations, and any other petroleum merchant that will accept their card. On the other hand of course are those petroleum marketers who directly own and operate both retail and unattended commercial fueling locations. These are companies who covet a direct relationship with their fleet fueling customers. 

Throughout this ongoing collision, many views and opinions have been shaped, alliances formed, and fortunes made (for some).  For many, there has also been a loss of market position and brand identity resulting in lower profits and reduced corporate equity.
